Why it exists

You wear a hat because you care how you look. It should care what's underneath.

It started with a hat turned inside out on a kitchen counter. More hair in the sink than anyone wants to notice, and a couple of strands caught in the seam tape of a hat that cost eighty dollars.

The outside was beautiful. The inside had clearly never been thought about. That seemed like a stupid thing to leave alone.

Before you buy.

How does it fit?

One size, adjustable at the back, with no Velcro. Structured, mid-depth crown and a pre-curved brim, so it sits like a proper ballcap rather than a slouchy dad hat.

Shipping and returns?

Free shipping in the contiguous US; a flat $10 to Alaska and Hawaii.

Return or exchange it unworn within 60 days. We send a prepaid label, there's no restocking fee, and refunds go back within 5 days of us receiving it.

Can I wash it?

Spot clean with cool water and a mild detergent, then let it air dry in shape. No machine, no dryer. Heat is what wrecks a structured crown and a silk lining.

Why silk?

It's the smoothest thing you can put against hair, which is why people sleep on silk pillowcases. Rough cotton grabs. Silk lets hair slide. We line the whole inside with it, because hair doesn't only touch one spot.

Will this stop my hair thinning?

No. Pattern hair loss comes down to genetics and hormones. A hat doesn't cause it and a hat can't treat it.

What a hat can do is rub. Rough seams and a coarse band pull at hair every time it goes on and comes off. That's the part we built around. If your hair is thinning, see a dermatologist.

Do hats cause baldness?

There's no good evidence that normal hat wear causes pattern baldness. A tight or rough hat worn constantly can contribute to breakage and pulling at the hairline, which is a different thing.
